We all begin our spiritual walk with Christ as babes that drink milk, but as we mature we should be eating solid food as it says in Hebrews Chapter 5:12-14.
If you're just getting started in your walk with Jesus, I recommend starting by reading the book of John.
As we grow in spiritual maturity we want to be able to clearly discern what's of God and what's not of God. The Bible is our blueprint to know right from wrong and how to conduct our lives and how not to.
This is why one of the best ways to increase our spiritual maturity is to continually meditate on God's Word.
The more you know God's truth, the easier it will be to know whether or not something aligns with God's Word. Paul says to Timothy, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15) KJV
The more we read, proclaim, and align God's Word with our life the easier it will be to discern dreams, visions, and know what's from God and what's not.
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season.."
As you do these things God's vision will become your vision. God's heart will become your heart.
