Do you know what it means to live according to the Spirit of God? Do you know how to walk and pray in the Spirit? You can either live according to your desires or live according to God's desires. Let's look at three things we can do to live and stay in the Spirit.
"For as he thinks in his heart, so is he" (Proverbs 23:7). The thoughts that you think and believe will become who you are. Monitor your thoughts. Ask God to change them and fill them with His thoughts. We are called not to conform to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). The Word also says that a mind of this world is death, but a mind of the spirit is life and peace (Romans 8:6).
1 Corinthians 6:19 shows that our life doesn't belong to us anymore but to God. Paul said, "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." (Galatians 2:20)
We need to let go of our desires and be filled with the desires of God. When our desires become God's desires we can start to pray prayers of God and not live according to what we want, but what God wants.
The Word of God is living and powerful! It pierces the spirit and soul. It discerns the intents of the thoughts and heart (Hebrews 4:12). The Word of God is what will renew our minds and help us to give up our passions and desires. We are also called to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
Those are three ways to live a life in the Spirit so we can be optimized for the glory of God. I pray that you would not understand this Word, but do it and live it out for God's glory.
