What should I do before reading the bible?
We should always pray.
There is a need to understand that God's word is spiritual.
& we need to best teacher to guide us which is the Holy Spirit.
Prayer allows us to read Gods word & get divine revelation.
Here are 4 things to pray before reading Gods word.
#1 Focus
Ask God for focus.
Whatever the enemy can't destroy, he distracts.
There's so many distraction's with work, school, family, life & even social media.
Our biggest asset nowadays, is time.
& if the enemy can waste our time, it will be harder to live a fruitful live with the precious time God has given us today.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. (Romans 12:1)
#2 Understanding
This is a supernatural, & spiritual word.
A mind of flesh cannot understand this word.
Revelation can only come from God alone.
We need to ask the Lord for understanding & wisdom.
& the best teacher to give us that revelation? The Holy Spirit.
#3 Application
We need to ask God to allow His word to come alive in our lives..
.. so we know how to apply it in any situation.
Gods word is LIVING.
12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
Let his word continue to be alive & for God to show us how to apply it daily.
24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. (Matthew 7:24-25)
Don't just be a hearer, be a doer.
Information + Application = Transformation.
#4 Gods blessing
Asking for God to bless our time in His word.
When God continues to bless it, we continue to have favor & walk in that blessing from God.
We have the ability to receive so many spiritual blessings from above.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, (Ephesians 1:3)
Blessed people, bless people.
& blessed people are God's people.
