According to the bible, demons are real.
Now there are differences in the flesh, strongholds & demons.
When we go through battles, it can be any of these factors.
We must discern the battle that is taking place so we can fight back & win through the victory of Jesus!
Flesh - we must crucify. (Galatians 5:24)
Strongholds - we must pull down. (2 Corinthians 10:4)
Now let's talk about the characteristics of demons & how to fight back.
#1 Demon - a person who has a will
43 “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.” (Matthew 12:43-45)
11 Now a large herd of swine was feeding there near the mountains. 12 So all the demons begged Him, saying, “Send us to the swine, that we may enter them.” 13 And at once Jesus gave them permission. Then the unclean spirits went out and entered the swine (there were about two thousand); and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and drowned in the sea. (Mark 5-11:13)
#2 Have Emotions
19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! (James 2:19
23 Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, 24 saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” (Mark 1:23-24)
#3 Have knowledge
13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “We [b]exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” 14 Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so. 15 And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you? 16 Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against [d]them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. (Acts 19:13-16)
#4 Have self awareness
9 Then He asked him, “What is your name?”And he answered, saying, “My name is Legion; for we are many.” (Mark 5:9)
#5 Have a conscious to respond & ability to speak
1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, (1 Timothy 4:1-2)
Now how do we fight against demons?
Flesh we crucify.
Strongholds we pull down & cast down.
If a demon is operating from the inside, we expel them & cast them out.
If a demon is operating from the outside, we must resist.
