7 Types Of Prayers In Less Than 7 Minutes

Prayer is an instrument.

Prayer is not a way to get God to do what you want, prayer is for you to become an instrument for God to do what He wants.

Prayer should be our first response, not our last resort.

Here are 7 types of prayers:

#1 Petition

14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. (1 John 5:14-15)

#2 Praise & thanksgiving

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Praise is offered to God for who He is & what He does.

Thanksgiving is offered to God for what He has done for us.

Psalm 48:1

Psalm 100:4

#3 Worship

Worship is an attitude.

My attitude towards God.

23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. (John 4:23)

9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. (Matthew 6:9)

Hallowed is to be holy, we must see God as holy.

#4 Intercession

This means 'to come in between'.

In Genesis 18,19 Abraham is interceding for Sodom & Gomorrah.

Exodus 32 Moses is interceding for the Israelites that have made a golden calf as an idol.

Prophetess Anna was a REAL intercessor in the book of Luke.

36 Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; 37 and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. 38 And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem. (Luke 2:36-38)

I truly believe intercessory prayer takes a strong disciple & mature believer.

#5 Dedication

We must first dedicate ourselves above all.

To dedicate yourself unto God. To choose righteousness & sanctification.

9 “I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. (John 17:9)

36 do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? (John 10:36)

What has God set you apart for?

#6 Persistence

5 And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7 and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’? 8 I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs. Luke 9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. (Luke 11:5-9)

We're called to sometimes press in with prayer.

Pressing into the promise of God that He has in our life.

In Acts 12:5 the church was praying for Peter to be released from prison.

Something powerful with persistence prayers.

#7 Blessing

23 “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them: 24 “The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; 26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” ’ Numbers 6:23-26

Now we have to know our authority and the importance of prayer as God's children.

6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.  (Revelation 1:6)

1 For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins. (Hebrews 5:1) (Read all of Hebrews 5)

4 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.  (1 Peter 2:4-5)
