Don't Stay There | Is This Wilderness?

We must know how to move... according to times & seasons.

Learn to not stay in a situation too long.

That healing process is way too long, that hurt lasted longer than it should. A high school situation that we should of healed from a decade ago.

18 “Now when they saw him afar off, even before he came near them, they conspired against him to kill him. 20 Come therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit; and we shall say, ‘Some wild beast has devoured him.’ We shall see what will become of his dreams!” 21 But Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands, and said, “Let us not kill him.” 22 And Reuben said to them, “Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit which is in the wilderness, and do not lay a hand on him”—that he might deliver him out of their hands, and bring him back to his father. 23 So it came to pass, when Joseph had come to his brothers, that they stripped Joseph of his tunic, the tunic of many colors that was on him. 24 Then they took him and cast him into a pit. And the pit was empty; there was no water in it.” (Genesis 37:18,20-24)

When Joseph was cast into the pit, it was wilderness.

Wilderness might look like it's NOT God's will, but it MUST happen to get us to a place of promotion that God will use!

Whatever the enemy meant for evil, the Lord will use it for His good.

He went from pit, palace, Potiphar's house, prison to promotion.

17 years old he get's tossed into a pit... to 30 years old he becomes promoted to steward the resources of Egypt!... that's 13 years.

Egypt... a land that once blessed God's people, later become bondage in the time of Moses in the book of Exodus.

6 “And Joseph died, all his brothers, and all that generation. 7 But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them. 8 Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph.” (Exodus 1:6-8)

The power of transitions & moving.

A place that once was a blessing is now bondage…

When it’s time to move, we MUST move.

A place that I stay way too long becomes bondage.

Toxic roommates & family members that hinder my spiritual growth.

It was once healthy, but now it’s not, it’s time to grow up & move forward.

Joseph's family in Genesis 45 moved from Canaan to Goshen (near Egypt).

Moses helped deliver the Israelites hundreds of years later from Egypt... on there way to wilderness heading towards Canaan which is Promise Land.

3 Keys To Know It's Time To Move

#1 Break free from familiar

Just because you're familiar with the environment... doesn't always mean it's from God. You may be uncomfortable & it MIGHT be God trying to deliver you from comfortable situations the enemy wants you trapped in.

The Comforter will help us during uncomfortable situations.

#2 Bondage

Bondage is being a slave to something... if it keeps you a slave to the enemy, you must move!

#3 Brings fear or forceful situations

The flesh will force, but the Spirit flows.

How do we know it's God's will for our wilderness?

#1 Peace

#2 Favor

#3 Provision

Joseph had all of the above while he was going through his 13 year journey.

Praying you discern it's time to move & to make sure that you're in God's will while going through wilderness moments.
