To unlock God’s promises… we must go through the wilderness.
Transitions must take place.
Transition from bondage to wilderness.
Transition from dysfunctional pasts.
God sent Moses to deliver His people in Egypt because He heard their cry.
7 And the Lord said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. 8 So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites. (Exodus 3:7-8)
As they were transitioning out of Egypt.. God covered what they ‘saw’.
He allowed them to take the longer path because if they saw the Philistines, they might have gotten scared & went back.
God’s plans are not always the ‘easier’ looking path.
God doesn’t always give shortcuts.
God cares & understands your season.
God doesn’t force us, He directs us.
17 Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.” 18 So God led the people around by way of the wilderness of the Red Sea. And the children of Israel went up in orderly ranks out of the land of Egypt. (Exodus 13:17-18)
If they ‘saw’ war… they might have changed their minds and went back.
God cares.
God covers us & understands the seasons we are in.
He knew they might not have been ready to come out so early in their journey of bondage.
20 So they took their journey from Succoth and camped in Etham at the edge of the wilderness. 21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. 22 He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people. (Exodus 13:20-22)
This moment of guidance of a pillar of cloud by day & pillar of fire by night… is how the Holy Spirit works in our lives today.
3 Keys the Holy Spirit does:
Holy Spirit leads towards freedom.
Holy Spirit protects from the enemy.
Holy Spirit directs with light.
1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. 3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” (Matthew 4:1-3)
As Jesus is led into the wilderness afterward, He launches His ministry.
Coming out of wilderness seasons & moments births new things!
But wilderness comes with…
Testing
Temptations
Trials
Transformation
Whenever Jesus got tempted just remember how He fought… “It Is Written”
My God doesn’t break promises.. He breaks chains!
May your deliverance lead to discipleship.
