10 Afterward I came to the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah, the son of Mehetabel, who was a secret informer; and he said, “Let us meet together in the house of God, within the [e]temple, and let us close the doors of the temple, for they are coming to kill you; indeed, at night they will come to kill you.” 11 And I said, “Should such a man as I flee? And who is there such as I who would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in!” 12 Then I perceived that God had not sent him at all, but that he pronounced this prophecy against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him. 13 For this reason he was hired, that I should be afraid and act that way and sin, so that they might have cause for an evil report, that they might reproach me. (Nehemiah 6:10-13)
How to discern if God sent this?
#1 Word Bank Account
How much of the word of God do you know.
God’s will is found in God’s word.
The word of God has the answers to life… to cure depression, anxiety, fear, anger, & so much more.
Jesus is the word.
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)
4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ” (Matthew 4:4)
The more of God’s word you have, the better chance you have at fighting and building a life God’s way.
#2 Atmospheres & Environments
Everyone carries an atmosphere… make sure what they are carrying is sent from God.. (Holy Spirit).
4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)
There’s only two kingdoms… discern the atmosphere they carry as they try to pollute environments.
Your atmosphere has the ability to affect environments.
Another thing, know when you are assigned to environments.
There is power in Jesus name… but you can see people in scripture that clearly use it & there’s no power.
13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” 14 Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so. 15 And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” (Acts 19:13-15)
Make sure you’re anointed & assigned for the environments you go to.
This is how we can discern if people are also God sent.
#3 Access Points & Boundaries
Who has access to you matters.
Delilah wasn’t Samson’s enemy, the Philistines were.
The Philistines had access to Delilah who had access to Samson.
Judas wasn’t Jesus’s enemy, the Pharisees were.
If the enemy can’t have access to you, he finds someone that has access to you & influences them.
That’s why we build boundaries.
23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. (Proverbs 4:23)
Guarding your heart teaches you how to build boundaries.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. (John 15:5)
Make sure you’re attached to Jesus.
#4 Emotional Hygiene
32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. (Proverbs 16:32 NKJV)
32 Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city. (Proverbs 16:32 NLT)
Learn to rule your spirit.
Manage your emotions.
21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and [d]overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. (James 1:21)
Never make decisions from an emotional state.
Sometimes it’s best to be still & hear from God before moving forward with decision-making.
#5 God’s Presence
1 The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. It came to pass in the month of Chislev, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the citadel, (Nehemiah 1:1)
2 And it came to pass in the month of Nisan, in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was before him, that I took the wine and gave it to the king. Now I had never been sad in his presence before. (Nehemiah 2:1)
If you study the Jewish calendar… Nehemiah took a few months before going to rebuild the Jerusalem wall.
He spent time praying & fasting before God.
Spending time in His presence before it was time for Him to launch forward.
