So you call yourself a Christian...
but how do you know your faith is genuine?
The Bible talks about those who are saved and those who proclaim to be saved, but are still living in the dark.
There are some things I saw when studying the word of God to know if you have genuine faith or not.
Here are 3 key things:
1. Genuine faith produces works
"What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? (James 2:14)
"For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."
(James 2:26)
2. Genuine faith bears fruit
What do I mean by fruit?
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires."
(Galatians 5:22-24)
Those who belong to Jesus don't bear the fruit of the flesh (anger, wrath, jealousy, selfish ambition, drunkeness, fornication, etc) but the fruit of the Spirit.
3. Genuine faith obeys God's commandments.
How do you know if your relationship with Jesus is real?
"Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." (1 John 2:3-4)
Keep your faith in what Jesus did on the cross and in who He is.
We serve a beautiful God who will never fail us.
