Jesus was anointed.
Christ means 'anointed one'
& Jesus needed to be anointed with the assignment He had on earth.
38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. (Acts 10:38)
In the Old Testament they anointed to set apart.
It means to smear or to rub.
David was anointed as king (1 Samuel 16:13)
Jehu was anointed as king (1 Kings 19:16)
Elisha was anointed as prophet (1 Kings 19:16)
Aaron was anointed as priest (Exodus 28:41)
Items were anointed to be set apart (Exodus 29:36)
How to activate the anointing?
Now, this is NOT to say you aren't anointed... we all have the anointing.
But to be able to activate & use God's power.
#1 You can't copy anointing
27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. (1 John 2:27)
The anointing teaches us, leads us & guides us.
The Holy Spirit is our guide, comforter, & teacher. The Spirit of Truth.
#2 Anointing announces you.
When you're anointed, you don't have to announce it, it will announce you.
There will be evidence.
There will be fruit.
You will know them by their fruits.
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind, (Luke 4:18)
#3 Oil is expensive.
Salvation is free.
But there is a price to pay for oil.
28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— (Luke 14:28)
There is a price for oil... everything.
It's your obedience to God.
Obedience is greater than sacrifice.
#4 Get Oil Changes.
You need a fresh touch with God everyday.
We can't operate off a past prayer life.
You must pray before you leave your house.
You must pray without ceasing.
Carry the oil wherever you go like the wise virgins.
4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps(Matthew 25:4)
#5 Steward Your Oil With Obedience
8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ (Matthew 25:8-9)
The wise knew how to steward there oil.
Not just giving there oil to just anyone.
Being a good steward is a kingdom principle we must all learn.
