How To DEFEAT Strongholds - 3 Keys

What is a stronghold?

In other words... its arguments or reasonings...

These are thoughts, opinions, or patterns that may be against Gods truth.

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. ( 2 Corinthians 10:3)

The enemy wants us to fight flesh with flesh.

If we fight against the flesh with flesh, we may lose.

Either we take our thoughts into captivity to the obedience of Christ, or our thoughts take us into captivity.

4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. (2 Corinthians 10:3-6)

We have the authority & the ability to bring every thought into captivity into the obedience of Christ.

Then we are called to 'punish' disobedience. We must take action to fight against the thoughts that are not of the Lord.

If you've discerned you may be struggling with evil thoughts or thoughts that seem good but not God... lets show you how to fight against this in the spiritual realm.

We must trust in the Lord, His will, His word with ALL our heart.

When we lean on our own understanding, we also become vulnerable to the attacks from the enemy.

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

And lean not on your own understanding;

6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

I might not understand it all but I trust God with all my heart

3 Ways To Defeat Strongholds.

#1 Holy Spirit

1 “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; (Isaiah 61:1)

The anointing is just the work of the Holy Spirit flowing through us.

The Holy Spirit is our guide, comforter, teacher, & revelator.

The Spirit of the Lord brings freedom to those in captivity and opens up the prison to those who are bound up.

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (2 Corinthians 3:17)

#2 Word of God

12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

The word of God discerns the intents of our thoughts & hearts.

We must TEST everything against His word.

God's will is found in God's word.

2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2)

Gods word can transform our mind.

A transformed mind is a transformed life.

We need a transformation & to discern to know that good, acceptable & perfect will of God.

His word helps us break strongholds that we can discern are coming.

#3 Prayer

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. (Ephesians 6:17-20)

We can have the full armor of God... but it ends after introducing the armor to PRAY!

If you are prayerless you are powerless.

Prayer is another way for us to break strongholds.

Ephesians 6 shares the power of praying in the spirit.

We must pray father not my will, but thy will.

25 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed. (Acts 16:25-26)

After praying & singing hymns to God... the prison was shaken and chains were loosed.. this is the power of prayer.
