How To Heal From Dysfunction

Dysfunction is an abnormal impairment that doesn't function according to its original function.

& God created us a certain way to function according to the original kingdom design in His image.

Dysfunction tries to hinder or stop us from God's original design on our life.

Dysfunction is confusion.

Dysfunction opens doors to demons.

Dysfunction blurs discernment.

14 And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16 So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.” 17 Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” 18 And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour. (Matthew 17:14-21)

This boy was labeled an epileptic.

Epilepsy was your modern day cancer.

14 And when He came to the disciples, He saw a great multitude around them, and scribes disputing with them. 15 Immediately, when they saw Him, all the people were greatly amazed, and running to Him, greeted Him. 16 And He asked the scribes, “What are you discussing with them?” 17 Then one of the crowd answered and said, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. 18 And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.” (Mark 9:14-17)

This same story with the boy is labeled a mute spirit.

Why does the enemy attack during childhood?

Because it's easier for the enemy to plant a seed in childhood and water it into adulthood.

21 So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. 22 And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” (Mark 9:21-22)

When Jesus casted that demon out, He called it a deaf and dumb spirit.

25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” 26 Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. (Mark 9:25-27)

What is that confusion?

That untreated pain or trauma that triggers or activates fear.

How does dysfunction start?

Early pressure in early childhood

Emotional shock

Sinful acts or habits

Words said over your life

Dysfunction opens doors to demons.

Doubt is a demon.

The enemy always wants us to doubt God's promises.

Dysfunction blurs discernment

Not trusting the right people because we believed the wrong people.

Questions you must ask yourself to heal...

Who do I need to forgive?

What do I need to let go of?

What do I need to continue to label myself?

How do you see yourself?

How to truly heal from dysfunction?

#1 Decide to heal.

Healing gives you choices.

When I'm hurt, I can't love, that's why I must decide to heal.

#2 Deep love for God.

37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ (Matthew 22:37)

When I have a deep love for God I can love myself.

When I have a deep love for God I can love others.

Love so much from God that I can receive instruction, correction & rebuke from Him.

#3 Discipleship from the Holy Spirit.

Discipleship is instruction from God.

Our obedience to God is how we get discipled by Him.

We need BOTH instruction AND direction.

Instruction without direction is dysfunction.

What if discipleship is unlearning what you've learned?

Sometimes it's not about learning something new, but unlearning something old.

What if discipleship is unlearning what you've learned from broken people?

#4 Discern destiny helpers.

How to know if they are a destiny helpers?

Oil awareness.

The ability to have discernment to not take advice from people who are oil deprived.

...to truly heal.

We need:

God's way

God's word

God's wisdom

God's will

over our life!
