We need purity to be in God's presence but we need God's presence to be pure.
Purity is NOT perfection, it's not about being perfect, it's about being set apart... to be free from corrupt desires.
The blood of Jesus can wash us clean.
#1 God’s word over the world’s noise.
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105)
9 How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. 10 With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! 11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. 12 Blessed are You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes. 13 With my lips I have declared All the judgments of Your mouth. 14 I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches. 15 I will meditate on Your precepts, And contemplate Your ways. 16 I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word. (Psalm 119:9-16)
God's word should be first... because His word is the best way to hear His voice.
#2 Guard your heart.
We must guard our heart because of the abundance of it, the mouth speaks.
23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. 24 Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you. 25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you. 26 Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established. 27 Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil. (Proverbs 4:23-27)
23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (Proverbs 4:23) NLT
#3 Guard your mind. Take every thought captive.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2)
A transformed mind is a transformed life.
5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. (2 Corinthians 10:5-6)
#4 Set yourself apart.
Pure
Holy.
Sanctified
Set apart from the world.
Set apart from darkness.
Set apart from confusion.
Set apart from uncleanness.
Set apart from evil.
7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. (1 Thessalonians 4:7)
#5 Fear of the Lord.
To have the fear for the Lord is reverence, honor & respect towards God.
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Proverbs 1:7)
13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate. (Proverbs 8:13)
