We ALL carry God's presence.
The Holy Spirit.
This isn't saying you don't have the Holy Spirit... but it's to carry fresh oil because His mercies are new EVERYDAY.
As we decrease, He must increase (John 3:30)
Scripture says we must deny ourselves and pick up the cross.
#1 Seek God with all your heart
12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:12-13)
Our heart is desperately wicked above all things... Jeremiah 17.
So we must give the Lord our heart & learn how to guard our heart everyday.
Give God your heart, & you'll eventually have what's in His hand.
#2 Life of repentance
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. (Psalm 51:10-11)
Repentance is a changed mind.
It starts with deciding to turn to God & turn away from wickedness.
#3 Seek counsel from God over man.
7 Then David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, “Please bring the ephod here to me.” And Abiathar brought the ephod to David. 8 So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.” (1 Samuel 30: 7-8)
The Amalekites attacked Ziklag & took all the wives, daughters & sons while the men were out.
The men wanting to take David out ... but he inquired of the Lord.
The very men that he was leading, wanted to stone David.
David responded by taking it to God.
#4 Prayer & God’s word (sanctification)
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19:14)
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. (1 Timothy 4:4-5)
We must apply Gods word.
Wisdom is the application of God's word.
Prayer & His word will keep us separated from reacting like this world.
#5 Daily Devotional with God.
1 O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. 2 So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory. (Psalm 63:1-2)
35 Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a [k]solitary place; and there He prayed. 36 And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him. 37 When they found Him, they said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.” 38 But He said to them, “Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth.” 39 And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out demons. (Mark 1:35-39)
David sought God.
Jesus sought God.
We must have a lifestyle that seeks God everyday.
As our promotion increase in the kingdom, so must our devotion increase.
