We've heard a lot about the Gospel.
Jesus got crucified, died & resurrected for everyone. (John 3:16)
He didn't just die so I can live, He died so we can live for Him!
Going a little deeper we are going to study a few points in the the true gospel so you can continue to walk in obedience to God as a lifestyle!
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?(Matthew 16:24)
A few key points as we break down this verse in Matthew 16.
We must let go of the old & become the new person in Christ.
2 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (Ephesians 2:2-6)
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16)
30 He must increase, but I must decrease. (John 3:30)
Your cross is your sacrifice.
Following Jesus isn't just reading the word, but living the word.
24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” (Matthew 7:24-27)
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. (John 8:31)
Why is the Gospel the good news?
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
