3 Reasons You Need Deliverance

What is deliverance?

3 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. (Matthew 6:13)

Deliver: to draw to one’s self, to rescue.

Deliverance is the act of being rescued from evil.

The enemy is out here like a roaring lion waiting to devour it's prey. (1 Peter 5:8)

We are called to be sober minded.

As Jesus is teaching His disciples how to pray, He adds at the end to deliver us from the evil one, giving us wisdom on what to be watchful of while pursuing His purpose on our life.

1 In You, O Lord, I put my trust; Let me never be put to shame. 2 Deliver me in Your righteousness, and cause me to escape; Incline Your ear to me, and save me. 3 Be my strong refuge, To which I may resort continually; You have given the commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress. 4 Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. 5 For You are my hope, O Lord God; You are my trust from my youth. 6 By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise shall be continually of You. (Psalm 71:1-6)

Deliver: to escape, save, deliver, slipaway, to bring security

David also asked the Lord to be delivered from evil.

David was a man after God's heart and a King over God's people.

The way David the psalmist postured himself to always ask the Lord for guidance is something we as believers should adopt as part of our walk with God.

3 Reasons on why we need deliverance?

#1 Remove hindrances in your life.

16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. (1 John 2:16)

The lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes & pride of life are strategies the enemy uses to hinder the believer.

As ambassadors of Jesus Christ we have the authority to remove any of these hindrances from our life.

We must first recognize the hindrances, then we can remove them through Christ.

#2 Destroy the works of the enemy.

8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. (1 John 3:8)

While the enemy has a plan to kill, steal & destroy... God has a greater plan.

Jesus came so we may have life & live that life abundantly.

#3 Bring total deliverance in our soul, spirit & body.

11 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.” (Revelation 2:11)

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; (Luke 4:18)

We can experience heaven on earth, as the scriptures says on earth as it is in heaven.

There is freedom in His presence.

What is God’s plan on deliverance?

14 So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” (Genesis 3:13-15)

1 Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, 2 but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father. 3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world. 4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” (Galatians 4:1-6)

The Lord always has a plan.

Even thought we inherited the sinful nature through Adam & Eve, God always has a redemptive plan.

He sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ for us!

Two things that don’t change according to the world of God?

His love.

His word.
