Why does God allow storms?
What if not ALL storms are bad?
Storms bring rain, & sometimes seeds need to grow so they can water the seeds.
Is what we’re doing in this season justified & approved by God?
There is a difference between the will of man & the will of God.
13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:13)
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2)
Was this storm sent by God to correct us?
Or was it sent by the enemy to try and harm us?
There are different types of God’s will.
Sovereign Will - God’s perfect will.
Preferred Will- God’s preferred will.
Permissible will - God gives us free will.
Personal will - God’s personal will over our life.
Storm Of Correction
Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, 2 “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.” 3 But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. (Jonah 1:1-3)
When you are fleeing away from God’s will.. there are unnecessary fares you will pay.
Jonah ran from the presence of God… and a storm was sent to take him where the Lord originally asked him to go.
Storm Of Perfection
35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!” (Mark 4:35-41)
How do we know this is a storm of perfection?
Because Jesus rebuked the wind! We only rebuke devils
Why is the enemy attacking?
If you keep reading, Jesus delivers a man that was dealing with a demon named legion.
On the other side of this storm, there is deliverance.
The enemy sometimes will hinder us to help others and a deliverance that is taking place.
Now when we discern storms… we audit this 3 things.
Price (correction) - Jonah had to pay an unnecessary expense.
Price (perfection) - Us to be bold & rebuke winds!
People (correction) - is my storm effecting people negatively?
People (perfection) - is my storm effecting people positively? deliverance took place.
Patterns (correction) - Need to be broken if not God’s will.
Patterns (perfection) - Need to be trusted if it is God’s will.
Romans 12 talks about patterns. there are patterns.
Cycles vs. Seasons.
Cycles that are toxic, need to break.
Seasons we must go through or in other words breakthrough.
How God speak throughout the bible is a pattern.
How the world speaks is a pattern.
We must discern the patterns.
4 Keys around storms.
#1 Storms build our faith
#2 Storms often reveal God
#3 Storms expose our trust in God
#4 Storms bring balance in our walk with Christ
Some things don’t always require prayer.. you been praying. Now just be disciplined and become better with your habits.
How to know I’m in God’s will?
#1 You must decide in your heart & mind.
#2 You must plan. & make sure it’s God’s plan.
#3 Commit. When you’re committed, there is no other options.
