How to crucify the flesh according to the bible?
24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. (Galatians 5:24-26)
#1 We must decide to crucify the flesh.
We have a FREE WILL to decide to crucify the flesh & follow Jesus teachings.
20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)
#2 We must deny ourselves
Denying our own passions & desires
23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. (Luke 9:23)
30 He must increase, but I must decrease. (John 3:30)
#3 We must meditate on God's Word
4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ” (Matthew 4:4)
God's word allows us to break the cravings of the flesh.
11 Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You. (Psalm 119:11)
Remember we CANNOT cast out the flesh, we MUST crucify the flesh.
It's a choice to decide not to fall into the temptations of the flesh.
