So how do we truly surrender to Jesus?
Some of us may think we are fully surrendered, but are there things we must let go of?
Anything we put above God can be an idol.
We must put Him first.
Idols can be our marriage, bank accounts, jobs, relationships... anything we put above the Lord can be an idol.
We can pray & ask the Lord to cleanse us to detach from any of these worldly connections.
When we put our trust in other things over the Lord, we must repent & seek His face.
Believers are called to be a 'living sacrifice'
12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. (Romans 12:1)
Lets share how to truly surrender.
B.O.W.
Believe, Obey, Worship.
#1 Believe
We must believe in His promises over the devils lies.
35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. (John 6:35)
8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, (Romans 6:8)
15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” (Mark 1:15)
1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. (John 14:1)
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)
#2 Obey
It's not always easy to obey God.
Even when it doesn't make any sense... if it's from God, we must trust in Him.
His ways are higher, His thoughts are higher, His plans are higher than ours.
1 In You, O Lord, I put my trust; Let me never be ashamed; Deliver me in Your righteousness. 2 Bow down Your ear to me, Deliver me speedily; Be my rock of refuge, A fortress of defense to save me. (Psalm 31:1-2)
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. (John 8:31)
22 So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.
(1 Samuel 15:22)
“If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15)
#3 Worship
Worship isn't just a moment, it's a lifestyle.
9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” (Matthew 4:9)
24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:24)
"And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." (Colossians 3:17)
When we bow down to God, we become a slave to Him.
& being a slave to the King of kings reaps major benefits!
Those benefits are true love, peace, joy, hope & SO MUCH MORE that this world can't offer.
God's love is different.
Once you've experience His fulness in you... you'll never go back to the world.
God bless you!
